Collection: Darbouka

The darbuka, also called derbouka, is a goblet-shaped drum emblematic of the music of the Middle East, North Africa, and the Balkans. Often made of ceramic, metal, or wood, its head can be made of synthetic or natural materials, stretched over a circular frame. A hand-held percussion instrument, the darbuka produces a rich, vibrant sound, with deep bass and punchy treble, thanks to the playing technique of alternating between center strikes and rim strikes.

Very popular in traditional oriental and Arab-Andalusian music, it also integrates into more modern styles such as pop or fusion music, while remaining essential during celebrations and parties. The darbuka offers great rhythmic flexibility, ideal for accompanying acoustic or electronic ensembles.

With its distinct sound and great portability, the darbuka continues to appeal to musicians and percussion enthusiasts around the world.
